The agenda of the State Commission meeting included issues of developing an Arctic shipbuilding program to ensure cargo flow along the Northern Sea Route, discussion of the integrated development of key settlements in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, and the progress of the northern delivery.
The construction of additional large-tonnage ice-class vessels for operation along the entire Northern Sea Route under the Russian flag will ensure the exportation of the planned cargo base and will attract an additional cargo base to the Northern Sea Route, including for the redirection of transit cargo and will ensure its guaranteed transportation even in the event of deterioration of ice conditions.
The comprehensive development of the Arctic zone's key settlements of the Russian Federation was discussed. "Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin supported the initiative to develop the Arctic's key settlements. In essence, this is the dissemination of Far Eastern experience to the Arctic territories. This work is currently under the control of the head of state. The project to improve the quality of the urban environment has been launched in 16 cities, where more than 1.5 million northerners live," said Yuri Trutnev.
The agenda included a discussion of the progress of the northern delivery. The corresponding law was adopted last year. "The law was adopted so that residents of the Arctic regions would receive all the necessary goods on time and at lower prices," Yuri Trutnev emphasized.
The supporting transport and logistics infrastructure of the northern delivery has been defined. The supporting network includes 346 objects necessary to ensure regular, uninterrupted supply of the northern delivery territories. These are 149 motorways, 129 railway stations, 21 sea ports, 17 rivers, 15 river ports, 15 airports. Proposals from regions to include additional objects in the list are currently being considered.
