Small towns in the Far East with master plans can apply for grants of up to 300 million rubles under the updated rules of the federal competition.

New rules have come into effect for the Competition for the Best Projects to Create a Comfortable Urban Environment for Municipalities in the Far East. They expand the opportunities for cities with approved master plans and populations of up to 70,000. These municipalities can now qualify for the maximum grant of up to 300 million rubles. This makes it possible to attract more federal funding for major improvement and public space development projects.

Every year, 5 billion rubles are distributed among the Far Eastern Federal District's constituent entities through a competition. Potential participants include 267 communities, including cities, industrial settlements, urban and rural settlements, and areas with approved master plans. The grant amount depends on the municipality's category, which is determined by the number of residents, and ranges from 20, 50, 100, 150, or 300 million rubles. The all-Russian competition for the Far Eastern Federal District is held in three categories: settlements with a population of up to 10,000, settlements with a population of 10,000 to 70,000, and settlements with a population of 70,000 to 300,000. The first two categories include cities, industrial settlements, and urban and rural settlements, while the third category includes cities with a population of 70,000 to 300,000.
