The only year-round complex in Russia for growing seedlings of coniferous species with a design capacity of more than 6 million per year was built by the “Vanino Forestry Center” (VFC). The enterprise began operating in 2021, and continues to modernize greenhouse complexes and introduce new technologies. Under an agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (FEDC), 95.7 million rubles have already been invested in the project, and 28 jobs have been created.

This year, the investor introduced automated systems for soil preparation, irrigation and sowing, and packaging of planting material into the work of greenhouse complexes. This will allow the complex to reach its full capacity - 10 million seedlings per year.

“The line replaces almost all manual work. 15 cassettes with seedlings are “charged” per minute, 2.5 thousand per day. Previously, a team of 30 people worked on such a volume for two days. We have resolved the issue of import substitution, created our own machine for extracting seedlings from cassettes. We continue to work on improving this tool. When it is completely ready, it will speed up the process of extracting seedlings by 50 times compared to manual labor. We want to patent it,” said Vadim Moskvichev, General Director of Vanino Forestry Center LLC.
