The submission of applications for participation in the III All-Russian competition for the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment for municipalities in the territories of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation that are part of the Far Eastern Federal District has ended. In 2024, municipalities of the Far Eastern Federal District prepared 99 applications for the competition of the best projects worth 11,500 million rubles. In the Far East, the Ministry of Eastern Development of Russia and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic (FEDC) supervise the work on the implementation of state programs and federal target programs aimed at the comprehensive renovation of cities in the Far Eastern Federal District. According to the rules, the following municipalities are allowed to participate in the Competitions: small towns with a population of 70 thousand people to 250 thousand people (inclusive); small towns, urban and rural settlements with a population of from 10 thousand to 70 thousand people (inclusive); small towns with a population of up to 10 thousand people (inclusive), as well as urban and rural settlements with a population of 5 thousand to 10 thousand people (inclusive). Applications will be assessed by experts in the fields of architecture, urban planning, economics, sociology, cultural heritage protection, and archaeology. The funds allocated for the winning projects become one of the sources of financing for the implementation of master plans for the development of cities in the Far East.
