“Life is in full swing here!” - how tourism projects “on hectares” are developing in the Far East and the Arctic in winter

In the Far East and the Arctic, tourism projects on land obtained under the “Hektar” program are popular even in winter. Recipients of plots under the state program hold ethnic and sports festivals there, celebrate New Year and Epiphany, and offer their guests high quality, comfortable and safe recreation. The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) spoke with the authors of some projects “on hectares” about how the winter tourist season is going. In the Khabarovsk Region, “on hectares” on the banks of the mountain river Khor there is a premium-class recreation center “Zaimka Uzaly”. The beauty of the Far Eastern nature and the high level of service ensure the popularity of the project, despite the relative remoteness of the location - the road from the regional center to “Zaimka Uzaly” takes 1.5 - 2 hours by car. In the Murmansk Region, Maria Moskalenko and Ekaterina Korovina organized Arctic glamping and the “Hyperborea” SUP station on plots received under the “Hektar” program. The projects attract tourists with the opportunity to see the polar lights, landscapes of northern lakes, immerse themselves in the atmosphere of harsh rocks or fabulous snowy forests - and all this without breaking away from the usual standards of comfortable life. Alexey Tkachenko’s project “Aina Tour” is being developed “on hectares” in the village of Novoe, Korsakovsky district, Sakhalin Region. Alexey and his relatives took 4 hectares under the state program in 2017. Now “Aina Tour” has 112 dogs, seven reindeer, 2 alpaca llamas, there are traditional yurts on the plots, a craft workshop and a museum of Sakhalin archaeological artifacts is open. The owners of the hectares take guests on dog sleds and snowmobiles and introduce them to the culture and crafts of indigenous peoples.
