Yuri Trutnev met with investors from the Trans-Baikal Region

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev held a meeting on the progress of major investment projects in the Zabaikalsky Region.

"Transbaikalye has high investment potential. The region is home to over 100 strategically important minerals: uranium ore, copper, gold, tungsten, silver, bismuth, and much more. The balance reserves of over 500 solid mineral deposits in Transbaikal account for over 10% of the country's total. Furthermore, its proximity to China and Mongolia makes the region attractive for logistics development. Transport and logistics hubs are being established in border areas.

We've previously addressed the issue of insufficient energy capacity. This problem is common throughout the Far East. The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, together with the Ministry of Energy, is making every effort to address this issue: a program for the development of the Far Eastern Federal District's energy sector through 2030 is being developed. To address the issue of electricity supply in the Zabaikalsky Region by 2029, a new generation facility is planned to be commissioned at the Kharanorskaya State District Power Plant (GRES) and the Zabaikalskaya Thermal Power Plant (TPP) will be built by 2031. We will discuss the investment project for the construction of the 1,050 MW Zabaikalskaya Thermal Power Plant (TPP) today. We will also consider other projects proposed by investors," Yuri Trutnev opened the meeting.

The meeting discussed new and existing projects in the mining, logistics, and energy sectors.

"We will continue to support investors in the implementation of their projects that help develop both Transbaikal and the entire Far East," concluded Yuri Trutnev.
