Yuri Trutnev: The Northern Sea Route forms the strategic superiority of the Russian Federation

The meeting of the Council of the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation for the protection of Russia's national interests in the Arctic was held by Aide to the President of Russia Nikolai Patrushev and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. The issues of navigation safety in the waters of the Northern Sea Route were discussed.

"The Northern Sea Route forms the strategic superiority of the Russian Federation. It not only connects the Asia-Pacific region with the European part of the continent, but also provides important solutions for the security of our country. The actions of the Government of the Russian Federation, all government bodies and economic structures are defined by the President of Russia in the Fundamentals of the State Policy of Russia in the Arctic and the Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. In accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia, the Northern Sea Route Development Plan until 2035 has been developed and is being implemented. The analysis of the implementation of this plan is the main goal of our meeting today,” said Yuri Trutnev.

The meeting considered issues related to ensuring navigation in the waters of the Northern Sea Route and the development of emergency rescue infrastructure in the Arctic zone of Russia, and developed additional measures for the development of the emergency rescue fleet, its bases, the creation of navigation equipment and aviation support.
