The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (ARRIFO) and the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) have signed a cooperation agreement.

On May 18, in the new building of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) and ARRIFO. The document was signed by Deputy General Director for the Development of the Fishery Complex of the FEDC Ivan Novikov, and ARRIFO Director Kirill Kolonchin.

Under this framework, the parties plan to develop technologies and recommendations for the intensive cultivation of aquatic biological resources. They will additionally prepare proposals aimed at strengthening cooperation between science, education, and business to conduct fundamental and applied research in the field of fisheries and fish farming.

“The results of the research by our institute will be in demand as part of the implementation of innovative business projects and promising educational programs aimed at developing the macro-region,” Kirill Kolonchin emphasized.

Deputy General Director for the Development of the Fishery Complex of the FEDC Ivan Novikov noted: “Today we signed an important agreement on strategic cooperation. On the one hand, the corporation is responsible for the development of two key macro-regions in the country for the fishing industry. Our mission is to be a bridge between business, people, and the state. On the other hand, it is the main industry research institute in the country that is a bridge between science and the regulator. Such cooperation is designed to establish a balance of interests among all participants in large-scale and diverse sectors of the country’s economy, such as the fishing industry, ensuring its intensive development.”

The effective application of advanced scientific practices developed by specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography in the formation of investment models will make it possible to create a “Smart Business” format. This will ensure balance in the use of the extracted resource, increase the reproduction of aquatic biological resources, saturate the domestic market with a high-quality and affordable product, and most importantly, preserve the bioresources of our country for future generations.
