Yuri Trutnev instructed to develop a program for the renovation of Zabaikalsk

In Transbaikalia, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, held a meeting on the implementation of logistics projects in the Transbaikal Region, the development of transport and cross-border infrastructure of checkpoints. “Yesterday we discussed the implementation of investment projects in the Trans-Baikal Region. They form the basis for the development of the Far East and our entire country. In continuation of today’s visit to checkpoints, we are holding a meeting on the development of logistics cross-border projects,” Yuri Trutnev opened the meeting. The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that Transbaikalia occupies an important position on the logistics map of Russia. The largest railways, the Baikal-Amur and the Trans-Siberian, as well as three federal roads pass through the region. This makes it possible to transport cargo from all over the country to neighboring Mongolia and China. The Trans-Baikal Region accounts for about 48% of the external land trade turnover of the Far East, or 17 million tons. Obviously, these numbers will only grow. The railway and road infrastructure and checkpoints of the Region must be ready for this. The development of cross-border infrastructure in Transbaikalia will, among other things, make it possible to relieve congestion in part of the Eastern railway range, located to the east of the Region. In addition, it is necessary to create additional spaces on the border with China and Mongolia for transshipment, sorting and storage of goods. One of the region’s significant projects for the development of railway checkpoints is the reconstruction of the Zabaikalsk station and the construction of the second main 1435 mm gauge track on the Zabaikalsk - Manchuria section, which will allow a multiple increase in the capacity of the railway border crossing. The construction of the second main 1435 mm gauge track on the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria section was entrusted to FESCO. The FESCO transport group, one of the largest transports and logistics companies in Russia, presented a project to create a modern transport and logistics center “Terminal Zabaikalsk”. The total investment will be about 4 billion rubles. The implementation of the project will create more than 130 new jobs in the Region.
