Yuri Trutnev: the state of the Far East economy and the security of the state as a whole depend on technological development

The state of technological development in the Far East was discussed at a meeting of the Far Eastern Federal District Council, which was held with the participation of regional heads under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. "Technological development is urgently needed today. Both the state of the economy and the security of the state as a whole depend on it. This week, the head of state, speaking at the RSPP congress, noted that, according to the Russian Ministry of Finance, more than 28 thousand sanctions have been imposed on Russian companies and individuals. It is important to understand that sanctions are not just temporary restrictions. Their main goal is to weaken the state's economy. That is why we must strive with all our might for technological independence in all areas… The task of technological development is one of the most important that we face today. The economic development and security of the macro-region and the country as a whole depend on the quality and speed of its solution. Within the framework of these instructions, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia are currently doing a lot of work. We need to understand how far we have already advanced in this direction, and what has already been done," Yuri Trutnev opened the discussion. Sakhalin Region Governor Valery Limarenko reported on the scientific and technological development of the island region. On behalf of the head of state, the construction of the international-level campus SakhalinTech is underway on Sakhalin. The first stage of the campus, a student town for 1.5 thousand students, will be commissioned this year, and a scientific and educational center will be launched in 2026. An advanced engineering school has been opened in the region. An electrical engineering laboratory operates on the premises of the SKB SAMI academic institute. An oil and gas chemical analytical laboratory is being created. A hydrogen cluster is being formed, where projects are already being implemented. A hydrogen testing ground has been opened jointly with MIPT with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The first stage of the Oil and Gas Industrial Park has been launched. A research and production center for the development of unmanned systems, accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has been created on Sakhalin.
