Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev inspected the new terminal of the airport complex of the Magadan (Sokol) International Airport named after V.S. Vysotsky, which was included in the master plan for the development of Magadan. Magadan Region Governor Sergei Nosov also took part in the inspection of the new terminal.
The terminal was commissioned in December 2024. The construction was carried out under the constant supervision of geocryologists and geological engineers: permafrost lenses are hidden underground, which could pose a threat to the foundation as they thaw. To avoid deformations and destruction, the contractors chose a method of creating deep reinforcements, a special pedestal that compensates for the impact of unstable soils.
The total budget of the project was 11.75 billion rubles. The area of the new terminal is 14 thousand square meters. The capacity is 800 passengers per hour (the old terminal can handle 600 passengers per hour).
