"The Magadan Region can, without exaggeration, be called the gold reserve of the Russian Federation. Gold and silver reserves shape the region's economy and determine its main development directions. Mining and energy dominate the regional economy. These industries account for over 90% of annual production and employ over 20% of the population. Logistics, the fishing industry, and mechanical engineering are also priority areas for the region's development. Despite the challenging climate, tourism has begun to develop," Yuri Trutnev opened the meeting.
The issue of transport accessibility was discussed. "A number of instructions following the discussion were addressed to the Ministry of Transport. This is related not so much to projects as to regional transport accessibility. There are reports that people can't buy tickets and are waiting for flights. We agreed that the Ministry of Transport will prepare a separate report to the Government on this. Regulating passenger flows is important for us. A number of large companies transport people to work on a rotational basis. Clearly, we need to prioritize local talent and create conditions so that all residents of the Magadan Region who want to work in the industry receive the necessary education and training and have the opportunity to do so," emphasized Yuri Trutnev.
