Yuri Trutnev: The Far East continues to develop intensively

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev held an off-site meeting to summarize the work on the socio-economic development of the Far East in 2023. The heads of all eleven Far Eastern Regions attended the event. For a number of indicators, the Far East is consistently ahead of the Russian average: investment in fixed capital, volumes of construction work, housing commissioning, corporate revenue, mining, industrial production. “This is not a super-achievement, but a path to fulfilling the tasks that the President set for us. The Far East must develop faster in order to catch up with the average Russian level,” says Yuri Trutnev. Particular attention is paid to the development of cities, their improvement, healthcare, education, and culture, everything that makes up the quality of people’s lives. “This is the priority of the ministry team. The biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity is the implementation of comprehensive plans for the development of Far Eastern and Arctic cities,” noted Alexey Chekunkov. The possibility of developing new measures to support the macro region was discussed at the meeting. In 2022, at the strategic session of the Government of the Russian Federation on the development of the Far East, 10 initiatives were adopted; in 2023, 12 such initiatives were adopted.
