Yuri Trutnev: The Far East is a strategic priority

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev took part in the plenary session “The Far East and the Arctic - the future of Russia!”, held at the international exhibition and forum “Russia” at VDNKh as part of the events of the Day of the Far East and the Arctic. “In order to stimulate the development of the Far East, the legislative space had to be changed. Over ten years, 77 federal laws and more than 470 acts of the Russian Government were prepared. Territories of advanced development, the “Far Eastern hectare”, a special administrative region on Russky Island and other development instruments emerged. Not a single decision was made formally. We made the decisions that the Far Easterners needed,” Yuri Trutnev opened the plenary session. The Deputy Prime Minister outlined the main positive trends in the development of the Far Eastern Federal District. For 2014-2022 the growth of investment in fixed capital is three times faster than the Russian average, and the growth of industrial production is 1.4 times. The special administrative regime on Russky Island ensured the return to Russia of assets worth 5 trillion rubles and the payment of more than 15 billion rubles in additional taxes. Over the past ten years, coal production has increased 2.8 times, gold production has increased 2 times, cargo turnover at seaports has increased 1.6 times, housing construction has increased 1.3 times, and agricultural production has increased 2.2 times. The implementation of projects has begun at many large deposits, such as the Udokan copper deposit in Transbaikalia or the Baimsk porphyry copper area in Chukotka. Projects implemented with the help of government support measures have given the Far East actual investments worth 3.7 trillion rubles, 745 new enterprises have been commissioned, and 134 thousand jobs have been created. A new page in the development of the Far East is associated with a large-scale renovation program for 25 Far Eastern cities. “A master plan has been developed for each of them. Surveys were conducted among residents. The results of the surveys were taken into account in the development of master plans,” said Yuri Trutnev, noting that the renovation program will change the image of the Far Eastern capital. A satellite city will appear near Vladivostok; 2.8 million square meters of real estate will be built, 80 thousand people will receive housing.
