The possibilities and prospects for the development of the tank container market in the Far East with state support were presented by FEDC at an international exhibition

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) took part in the 6th International Tank Container Forum as part of the CHEMISTRY-2024 exhibition, which brought together representatives of foreign and Russian tank container operators, tank container manufacturers, owners of repair depots and service stations, and chemical product manufacturers. According to Russian Railways, 7.4 million loaded and empty containers in twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) were transported by rail in 2023, which is 14.1% higher than in 2022. Of these, about 10% are tank containers (+1.6% compared to 2022). Recently, chemical cargo has been one of the main drivers of containerization on the railway network. Three quarters of all cargo transported in tank containers across the Russian Railways network consists of precisely such cargo, and another 16% is petrochemicals. “This trend stimulates the growth of transportation in tank containers," Diana Migrin, a specialist in the investment department of the FEDC, shared her analytics, noting that the trend for containerization of cargo, including petrochemical products, will most likely continue in the coming years. In this regard, the need for repair and maintenance of containers, including tank containers, is also growing.
