Authorities and citizens together: FEDC has developed a guide to improve the efficiency of the implementation of the “Far Eastern Yards” program
The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) together with the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East have developed a methodological guide for the implementation of the” Far Eastern Yards” program (previously known as “1000 Yards”), aimed at creating comfortable, safe and modern courtyard spaces in the region's populated areas. The document is intended for regional competence centers, executive authorities of the Far Eastern Federal District and municipalities involved in the process of improving courtyard areas.
The recommendations pay special attention to the principle of participatory design: residents are given the opportunity to actively participate in the development and approval of design projects, the selection of functional zones, control over the improvement and further use of renovated territories. This contributes to the formation of a comfortable urban environment, the development of good neighborliness and increased safety.
The “Far Eastern Yards” program has been implemented since 2022 on behalf of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev and is financed by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East using funds from the Unified Presidential Subsidy. At present, more than 2,093 courtyard areas have been improved within the framework of the program.
“In 2025, it is planned to improve another 128 courtyard areas for the amount of 1 billion rubles, and for 2026, funding in the amount of 1 billion rubles has also been allocated,” said Grigory Smolyak, Director of the Department of Social Development of the Far East and Arctic of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.
