On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) signed an agreement with “Mosstroytrans” Corporation and the Government of the Zabaikalsky Region on cooperation in the implementation of a project to create an unmanned cross-border container transportation system between Russia and China. This system will connect the Zabaikalsky Region with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (China). This international cross-border project is expected to be implemented entirely through private investment from both countries, amounting to approximately 11 billion rubles from each side.
The initiative centers on the implementation of a fully automated, intelligent freight movement system between the two countries. The unmanned, highly automated rail transport line will transport containerized cargo. The transport artery's capacity will be 10 million tons of cargo per year, with potential to increase that to 20 million tons.
