A documentary series about the establishment of a settlement on the “Hectares in the Far East” agglomeration is being filmed in Yakutia

The presentation of the first episode of the documentary series “Micropolis is the Territory of the Future” took place at the Innovation Forum “Time of Passionaries” in Yakutsk. The film tells about a new type of settlement, which is currently being built with the support of the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) on the “Hectares in the Far East” agglomeration in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The Micropolis project is being implemented in the Gorny district of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in the village of Magaras, 96 km from Yakutsk. According to the initiators, it will be a self-sufficient, autonomous settlement with a new way of rural life, attractive for young families and based on cooperation. The ideology of “Micropolis” is based on values such as good neighborliness, comfort of life, safety, versatile development of the individual, physical and mental health and professional self-realization based on a self-sufficient local economy.

The FEDC participates in the development of the series as one of the partners of Micropolis. As an institution for the development of the region, FEDC supports the project in applying for funding under the Hectare and Far East Mortgage programs, advises on issues related to equipping the metropolitan area with the necessary infrastructure and organizing cooperation activities.

The roadmap of the Micropolis project envisages its implementation in three phases by 2035. In the first phase, by the end of 2025, a micro-residential district will be created within the boundaries of the village of Magaras, as well as pilot projects in the fields of agriculture and tourism. The second stage (2026–2030) is the formation of a settlement for 3,000 people, with basic infrastructure and ongoing production and business projects during this period. The third stage (2031–2035) is the introduction of all the facilities of the micropolis (residential areas, modern social and technical infrastructure, social and industrial facilities), an increase in the number of inhabitants from 5,000 to 10,000 people, including the inhabitants of the village of Magaras, the transformation of the village into a “micropolis.”
