Magadan celebrated the grand opening of a key project in the city's master plan: the year-round Elena Vyalbe ski stadium

On April 12, the grand opening ceremony of the year-round Elena Vyalbe Ski Stadium took place in Magadan. The new sports facility, built in “Snezhnaya Dolina” using the Far Eastern Concession mechanism and funds from the Unified Presidential Subsidy of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, is a key element of the city's master plan. The stadium's construction is part of a systematic infrastructure development program aimed at improving the quality of life in the Magadan Region and creating conditions for sports. The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), and the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Vostokgosplan" are participating in the development and implementation of master plans for cities in the Far Eastern Federal District and key Arctic communities.

The stadium features tracks ranging from 1.4 to 5 km in length, a roller ski track, lighting for evening training, bleachers for 500 spectators, and facilities with a gym, first aid station, and locker rooms. The infrastructure allows for year-round training and competitions, including all-Russian training camps and tournaments at various levels. Immediately after its opening, the traditional "Vyalbe Ski Track" competition, featuring Olympic champion Alexander Legkov, began at the facility.

The facility is named after Elena Vyalbe, a Magadan native, three-time Olympic champion, 14-time world champion in cross-country skiing, whose athletic career began in the region. The stadium's construction aims to preserve and develop the strong traditions of cross-country skiing, as well as create a modern base for training new generations of athletes.
