The FEDC presented the possibilities of tourism and investment potential for business in the Arkhangelsk region

In Moscow, at the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), a presentation of investment opportunities in the Arctic region for the business community took place: “Open North: investments in tourism in the Arkhangelsk region.” The event was organized with the support of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region and the FEDC. General Director of the FEDC Nikolay Zapryagaev, welcoming the audience, recalled that a year ago a similar event was held in the FEDC, where they talked about the investment potential of the Arkhangelsk region as a whole, today the attention is focused on tourism. “This is no coincidence: the region is in demand among tourists due to its unique places and history. People began to travel more around our vast and very interesting country. Therefore, one of our tasks is to create conditions so that tourists have more access to those places that are really worth visiting.” At the event, the region’s proposals for the localization of tourist facilities, including country hotels, ski and sports and entertainment complexes, were presented. “The interest of entrepreneurs in participating in the development of the hospitality sector in the Arkhangelsk region is growing noticeably. The turnover of enterprises in the tourism sector in 2022 amounted to about 14 billion rubles. Over the past three years, 114 new tourist infrastructure facilities have been commissioned in the region - mainly accommodation facilities and public catering facilities. The greatest activity of investors is observed in the Arctic part of the Region, where, thanks to federal and regional support, special favorable conditions have been created to support business. Residents of the Russian Arctic are implementing 39 investment projects to create modern facilities for receiving and serving tourists with a total investment of about 1.7 billion rubles. More than 900 additional jobs will be created to work in the industry. The region is interested in attracting federal investors to implement new projects in the field of tourism,” noted Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region Viktor Ikonnikov.
