An “Open Day” ceremony was held at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute branch in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk branch of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute is beginning preparations for the 2026 admissions campaign. The institute held an “Open Day”, where prospective students had the opportunity to ask questions of faculty, participate in master classes, and watch first-year students perform. This year, two groups are planned for the “Acting major”, offering full-time and part-time programs. The opening of branches of creative universities is part of a systematic approach to training personnel for the creative industries of the Far East. In 2025, 144 students were enrolled in branches of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute (Sakhalin Region), VGIK (Khabarovsk Region), and GITIS (Amur Region).

As a reminder, the branch of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute opened on October 14, 2024. The first classes began on September 1, 2025. Admission was based on the Acting program (specialization: Drama and Film Actor). Sixteen students were admitted to state-funded places, and another six were accepted on a fee-paying basis.
