The first round of the VIII All-Russian meta-subject Olympiad "Closer to Far" has ended. A record 1.2 million participants registered for it - schoolchildren of grades 1-11 and students of the first and second years of professional educational organizations (based on 9 classes) from all subjects of the Russian Federation. Among them are over 111 thousand students from the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District and over 71 thousand participants from the regions of the Arctic zone of Russia. The organizers of the “Closer to the Far” Olympiad are the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the educational platform Uchi.ru.
Executive Director of the FEDC for Social Development Gasan Gasanbalaev: "The Olympiad is in full swing, and once again shows record numbers of involvement. In the first round, 6.6% of schoolchildren from all over the Russian Federation took part, that is, every 15th schoolchild in the country. 10.6% of Far Eastern Federal District schoolchildren, or every tenth, took part in the Olympiad. This is a high figure. It reflects the growing interest to the Far East, the attention paid to the region by the President and the Government, and the new opportunities for young people that have appeared in the Far Eastern Federal District in recent years.
