Three films about the Far East will receive support from the Cinema Fund

A press conference was held at the TASS press center in Moscow to discuss the results of the Cinema Fund's first Far Eastern grant competition and the prospects for developing film production in the region. The event was attended by Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic; Fyodor Sosnov, Executive Director of the Cinema Fund; and producers and directors of projects that received additional funding as a result of the competition.

The Cinema Fund grant competition is supported by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation. Applications were accepted from June 27 to August 11, 2025. Twenty-nine projects participated in the first competition; following the competitive selection, three films received support: "The Legend of the Ermine" (Chukotka), "All Rivers Flow into the Sea" (Khabarovsk Region), and "Dog" (Magadan). The total competition budget was 200 million rubles

Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, noted that the film industry in the Far East is becoming one of the drivers of the region's creative economy. In 2022, the Far Eastern Film Commission was established in the Far Eastern Federal District at the request of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East. It promotes the region as a filming location, coordinates support measures, including rebate programs, and helps establish cooperation between producers and regional authorities. Currently, regional film commissions operate in eight regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. Nine regions host their own film festivals, and rebate programs are implemented in Primorye, Yakutia, Buryatia, and Chukotka.
