The Cinema Fund's second grant competition to support films about the Far East has launched

Applications for the Cinema Fund's second grant competition to support the production of national films about and in the Far East are open from April 13, 2026. Applications can be submitted until 7:00 PM (Moscow time) on May 27, 2026.

The selection process and conditions are posted on the Foundation's official website. The project is being implemented by the Cinema Foundation in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC). The total competition budget is 200 million rubles and is aimed at developing the film industry in the Far Eastern Federal District in accordance with a decree of the Russian Government.

According to the terms, one project may apply for a grant of up to 100 million rubles. Support can cover up to 70% of a film's budget, and in exceptional cases, up to 100%. The competition is open to film companies from all over Russia. Key selection criteria include the participation of at least 30% of specialists from the Far Eastern Federal District in film crews, the reflection of the region's cultural and historical characteristics in at least 20% of screen time, and the allocation of at least 30% of the project budget to work with companies registered in the Far East. Particular attention will be paid to projects' compliance with state cultural priorities and their relevance to audiences. A mandatory requirement is the subsequent priority placement of the finished film on content distribution platforms.
