The “New Land Grain Corridor” (NLGC) Group of Companies, the system operator for the strategic program of the same name, is implementing a transport and logistics cluster project 4 km from the Manchurian border in Transbaikalye in three stages. The first step—the construction of the Transbaikal Grain Terminal (“TGT”)—has already been completed. Russia's first and Eurasia's largest specialized land terminal is capable of handling up to 8 million tons of grain per year. Most importantly, it solves the problem of different railway gauges between Russia and China, with five tracks each, measuring 1,520 mm and 1,435 mm.
The “TGT” is built on the site of the “Transbaikalye” Priority Development Area (ASEZ). The second phase of the cluster involves the construction of a multimodal transport and logistics center with a container terminal with a capacity of up to 300,000 TEUs per year and a warehouse space of up to 14,000 square meters.
Investment in the second phase of the project is estimated at 16 billion rubles, creating approximately 300 jobs. The third phase of the cluster is expected to involve the development of the TLC's storage capacity.
In total, “NLGC” Group has already invested over 20 billion rubles of its own funds in its projects, employing over 300 people. Once “TGT” reaches its design capacity, jobs will be offered to an additional 250 people.
