On November 14, 2021, 12:00 - 13:30 (UAE time), the EXPO 2020 Dubai business program will host a panel session on “Changing the Structure of the World’s Economy Through Innovation and Digitalization.” The event, which will be held in the conference hall of the Russian National Pavilion, will be organized by the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic.

The industry session at EXPO 2020 Dubai is intended to highlight key trends in digitalization, including in traditional industries. The event will also include a presentation of the Innovation Science and Technology Centre on Russky Island, the creation of infrastructure included in the plan to implement the Concept of Development of Russky Island, and was approved by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The Russian Far East and the Arctic are priority development regions for the Russian Federation and are seen by the international community as areas with enormous growth potential. The macroregions contain a wealth of minerals (oil, gas, precious metals), marine resources, and a unique untouched natural environment. At the same time, the regions face many strategic challenges, including development in terms of digitalization and innovative industries.

Modern IT and technology parks and innovation centers are being developed in the Far Eastern Federal District. Information technology companies are already valued at more than a billion dollars. There are also examples of successful market entry in Europe and the US. Particular attention is paid to exports to the Asia-Pacific region. In order to finance innovation and start-up projects in the Russian Far East and the Arctic, venture financing instruments are being actively implemented.

It will be particularly relevant to discuss this agenda in Dubai, one of the leaders in finance and technology in the modern world.

The session will be attended by the heads of major innovation and technology companies, representatives of financial and investment institutions, and development institutions. The session will be moderated by Oleg Teplov, Chief Executive Officer of VEB Ventures.
