Russia and China will intensify cooperation in the field of development and deep processing of forest resources of the Far East
The Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (FEDC), as part of a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, took part in the 18th meeting of the permanent Russian-Chinese working group on the development and use of forest resources, which was held in Beijing.
Andrey Fedorov, head of the forest sector of the investment department of the FEDC, spoke about the potential of the forest industry in the Far Eastern Federal District and the prospects for cooperation in the field of deep wood processing, as well as measures of state support for projects implemented, including by foreign investors.
The meeting participants were presented with five potential projects for the production of oriented strand board, sawn timber and sulphate unbleached pulp, as well as greenfield projects for the construction of a house-building plant and a timber processing enterprise in the territories of the Khabarovsk and Trans-Baikal Territories, which currently need co-investors.
