Russia and Indonesia strengthen scientific and educational cooperation

In Jakarta, as part of the Russia-Indonesia business forum, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Elvira Nurgalieva and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Indonesia Brian Yuliarto. During the negotiations, the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the scientific and educational spheres were discussed as a key area that could become the foundation for long-term partnership in high-tech industries and contribute to the sustainable growth of the economies of both countries. At the meeting, Elvira Nurgalieva noted that cooperation between Russia and Indonesia in the field of education demonstrates positive dynamics, including at the level of regional universities. Currently, 12 students from Indonesia are studying at universities in the Far Eastern Federal District: nine in Primorsky Krai, two in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and one in Khabarovsk Krai. These figures do not reflect the full potential of the partnership. Elvira Nurgalieva invited representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Education to take part in the Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held in Vladivostok in September 2025.
