Russia and India discussed prospects for expanding cooperation

The delegation of the Ministry of Eastern Development of the Russian Federation and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic (FEDC), led by Deputy Minister for Development of the Far East and Arctic Anatoly Bobrakov, completed a working visit to the Republic of India. The Deputy Minister led the Russian delegation at the World Summit “Dynamic Gujarat” with the participation of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The delegation included representatives of the Far East and Arctic regions and business. As part of the summit, the Russian delegation held a session “Russia – India: prospects for cooperation in the Far East and the Arctic,” in which Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of Industry of the Government of Gujarat, took part. Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Anatoly Bobrakov said that Indian companies are actively exploring opportunities to work in the pharmaceutical, diamond and hydrocarbon sectors in the Russian Far East: “As for Russian-Indian cooperation in the Far East and the Arctic, India is our important strategic partner. Some major projects are already implementing by Indian investors.” The Russian delegation also held a number of meetings with official circles of the country. At a meeting with Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of India Rajesh Kumar Singh, issues of cooperation in the Far East and the Arctic, training of Indian sailors at the University of Vladivostok to work in polar waters, as well as the possibility of joint production of helicopters in India were discussed.
