Sakhalin State University (SakhSU) is launching three new study programs and expanding the number of state-funded places in existing programs. "In 2026, Sakhalin State University is launching three completely new educational programs: “Aquabiotechnology”, “Sociology of Advertising and Marketing”, and “Geoanalytics and Spatial Planning of Tourism”. Each program is focused on specific industry objectives in the Far East: the development of mariculture, creative industries, and tourism clusters. This is our strategic response to the macroregion's economic talent needs. I'd like to point out that in 2026, three other programs we launched a year ago will be offering state-funded places for the first time. These are “information security”, “journalism”, and “technical physics”. Now, obtaining a sought-after profession in these fields is not only possible on a paid basis—this is an important step in training personnel for the defense industry, the media industry, and the digital economy. For Sakhalin State University, as a participant in the “Priority 2030” program, it's crucial that every educational decision contributes to the development of the Far East and the Arctic. I'm convinced that both the new programs and the expansion of state-funded enrollment will help attract and retain talented young people in the region," said Sakhalin State University Rector Alexey Ognev.
