Residents of the Russian Arctic are implementing 30 projects aimed at developing the Northern Sea Route

Alexei Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, and Alexei Likhachev, General Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”, discussed measures aimed at implementing the Northern Sea Route Development Plan and increasing cargo traffic.

In 2022, 34.1 million tons of cargo were transported along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) - the planned target was exceeded by 2.1 million tons. In 2023, it is planned to deliver 36 million tons of cargo to the Arctic and Far Eastern regions.

“In total, the residents of the Russian Arctic are implementing 30 projects that affect the increase in the cargo turnover of the NSR and provide for the provision of services for the development of the sea corridor. The volume of investments already invested in these projects is 18 billion rubles, more than 460 jobs have been created,” said Vladimir Gudkov, representative of the FEDC.
