Resident of the "Buryatia" ASEZ opened a new passenger terminal at the airport "Baikal"
The “Baikal Airport” Company, as a resident of the Buryatia Advanced Development Area, has built and ceremonially opened a new airport complex for domestic flights at “Baikal” International Airport. The terminal, with an area of over 6.6 thousand square meters and a capacity of 400 passengers per hour, is equipped with two jet bridges.
The project received the status of a resident of the priority development area within the framework of the EEF-2023 under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC). The preferential regime of the priority development area and government support measures made it possible to implement the investment project aimed at increasing the transport accessibility of the Far East within the planned timeframe and at a lower cost.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov, and the Director of the FEDC “Buryatia” Dmitry Khameruev.
"Honestly, I did not expect this project to be implemented so quickly. The head of Buryatia told me how important today's opening of the new airport is. This is a wonderful event, I am absolutely sure that it will give impetus to the economic development of the region and the country. The nature in Buryatia is unique, the people are wonderful, and of course it is very important to get there easily and affordably," said Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
