Resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation has started production of aerated concrete blocks in Yamal

“Techno Yamal” company, a resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF), has implemented an investment project to produce aerated concrete blocks in the city of Labytnangi. Under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), the investor invested 31.5 million rubles in the project. State support measures have significantly facilitated the start of a business idea and reduced the economic burden in the early stages of launching the enterprise. The plant has created 34 new jobs. The plant produces 40 cubic meters of finished products per day. In the near future, production is planned to increase to 200 cubic meters per day. The potential for the development of the aerated concrete block market in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District is 4,500 cubic meters per month and can be expanded as the region and the Arctic as a whole develop in the future. “In the conditions of the Far North, it is extremely important to minimize the amount of energy needed to heat premises – houses have to be heated almost all year round, with the exception of the short summer months. The thermal conductivity of D500 grade aerated concrete in dry form is four times lower than that of solid brick, and several times lower than the thermal conductivity of wood,” said Anton Goncharov, General Director of “Techno Yamal” LLC. According to him, aerated concrete is resistant to the negative impact of the harsh climate of the North - for example, in Scandinavian countries you can find aerated concrete houses that are more than 70 years old.
