A resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation has introduced a standard of responsibility for interactions with indigenous minorities of the North into the work of the enterprise

“Arktikstroy” has signed up to the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) resident responsibility standard for its relations with indigenous peoples. Under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), the AZRF resident is establishing a construction equipment repair facility in Pevek, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The project will involve an investment of 30.3 million rubles, creating 47 jobs. The standard will be part of the resident's corporate social responsibility program, aimed at ensuring respectful and constructive cooperation with the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East. The standard was approved by an order of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and entered into force in 2021.

"The standard establishes a set of principles for relations with the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Russian Far East. These include promoting the sustainable development of indigenous peoples, improving their quality of life and preserving their original habitat, cooperation in improving the socio-economic situation, transparency in the activities of the Arctic Zone resident, and other provisions. It is essential that the interests of indigenous peoples be respected during territorial development, production, and economic activity," commented Marat Gabbasov, Deputy Director of the Department for Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and Implementation of Infrastructure Projects at the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic.
