The small hydroelectric power plant will utilize part of the river flow that the Jäniskoski Hydroelectric Power Plant, built in 1950, currently discharges during floods and when its hydroelectric units are shut down for repairs and maintenance. The planned average annual electricity output of the small hydroelectric power plant will be approximately 115.6 million kWh/year.
The Arctic Zone resident's project, the small hydroelectric power plant "Arktika," will be equipped with Russian-made primary and auxiliary equipment. To achieve import substitution, the design and technical solutions have been adjusted, and a new supply chain has been established. The primary hydroelectric power equipment (turbine and generator), as well as the power transformer, for the new hydroelectric power plant have already been manufactured.
