The development of the North, considering centuries-old traditions, was discussed at a forum in Moscow

The first International Forum "Women for the Preservation of Traditions," organized under the auspices of the Eurasian Women's Forum, took place in Moscow. Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, participated in the forum.

The event's goal is to consolidate the women's community, preserve and promote traditional values, and strengthen intercultural exchange and international cooperation.

The forum brought together over 500 participants: leaders of social, patriotic, and cultural projects, representatives of dynasties, government agencies, businesses, and international and public organizations.

The plenary session was opened by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, the initiator of the Eurasian Women's Forum.

One of the forum's key events was the session "Guardians of the North: Preserving Traditions and New Authentic Projects," moderated by Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.

"Traditions in the North are, on the one hand, part of folk culture, and on the other, a response to the climatic and territorial conditions people face. It's important not to limit ourselves to simply preserving traditions—otherwise, it'll amount to museumification. We need to transmit and develop traditions, nourish them with energy so they remain alive, relevant, integrated into everyday life, and so that people want to be part of them," said Elvira Nurgalieva.
