Development of health resort recreation in the Far East and state support for tourism projects in the Arctic were discussed at the Forum of Russian Regions

At the Forum of Russian Regions “Development of Tourism Infrastructure,” the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) presented measures of state support for the implementation of investment projects in the field of tourism, and also spoke about how the medical resource increases tourists’ interest in recreational facilities. At the specialized session “Health and resort tourism: a growing market or a closed club,” Deputy Director of the Investment Department of the FEDC Maria Badmatsyrenova noted that health resort vacations are currently gaining popularity among residents of the country. In addition to natural wealth and resources, the Far East has a large set of tools that help develop and create new resorts. These are priority development areas, the Free Port of Vladivostok and other government support tools for businesses. Additional factors in the development of tourism include the Hectare program and subsidized air travel in the region. During the strategic session “Systemically important companies: anchor investor or guarantor of attracting private investment in tourism and hospitality”, held under the auspices of the State Corporation Rosatom - one of the locomotives of the comprehensive socio-economic development of the territories where nuclear industry enterprises are present, Maria Badmatsyrenova spoke about state support for the implementation of tourism projects in the Arctic. Three of the 31 "atomic" cities are located in the Arctic. These are Polyarnye Zori in the Murmansk Region, Pevek and Bilibino in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The development of tourism projects, new opportunities for quality recreation in such cities create comfortable conditions for residents. Residents of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation are implementing 142 investment projects in the sphere of tourism and recreation, the total volume of investments is 44.2 billion rubles, 10.5 billion rubles have actually been invested. Business creates 2.4 thousand jobs. The leaders in the number of investment projects implemented in the sphere of tourism are the Murmansk Region (78), the Arkhangelsk Region (21), the Republic of Karelia (18). Among the largest tourism business projects already being implemented within the framework of the preferential regime of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, she named the tourist cluster "Valla-Tunturi" and the Ski Training Center "Norebo" in the Murmansk Region, the hotel Segezha Nord Resort & SPA in Karelia and others.
