The development of decentralized power generation in the Far East was discussed at the “Vedomosti” conference

Moscow hosted the XI annual conference “The Future of Renewable Energy in Russia,” traditionally organized by the publishing house Vedomosti and attended by key investors in the industry. One of the topics of discussion, in which the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) also participated, was the development of decentralized power generation based on renewable energy sources in remote and isolated areas of the Far East Federal District and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.

During the plenary session, they discussed the prospects for renewable energy development in the face of sanctions pressure.

According to Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Snikkars, the renewable energy sector in Russia has received substantial state support, which has allowed it to achieve significant results in attracting foreign and Russian investments in the localization of production of innovative equipment and construction of power plants based on renewable energy. The program enabled the creation of a whole subsector of renewable energy in the country with its large investors, production facilities, and scientific institutions.

“The foundations laid will enable the renewable energy sector to continue its dynamic development in a competitive environment, both in the electricity and capacity markets and in solving the urgent state task of ensuring energy supply to remote and isolated regions in the Far East and the Arctic,” Pavel Snikkars said.

Recall that following the results of the Eastern Economic Forum 2022, the President of the Russian Federation instructed the Government of the Russian Federation to develop, with the participation of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF and PJSC RusHydro, a program to modernize local generation facilities of technologically isolated power grids in the Federal District of the Far East.
