The development of pilgrimage routes on Baikal was discussed by the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the abbot of the Holy Trinity Selenginsky Monastery
The head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East held a meeting with the abbot of the Holy Trinity Selenginsky Monastery of the Ulan-Ude and Buryat Diocese, Hegumen Alexy (Ermolaev), where they discussed issues of improving pilgrimage routes in the Republic of Buryatia and nearby regions.
Since 2024, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, together with the Far Eastern dioceses, has been developing a plan of joint events to popularize the spiritual and historical heritage of the Far East and the Arctic, as well as to support the development of pilgrimage tourism. Currently, there are more than 40 pilgrimage routes in the regions of the Far East, mainly associated with visiting monasteries and churches.
