The development of the Arctic region was discussed at the International Naval Show
The resource potential of the Arctic region, trade, economic and international cooperation, as well as issues of national security and ecology were discussed at the round table “Battlefield: the Arctic. Internal and external challenges of the development of the Northern Sea Corridor in the interests of Russia”, which was held as part of the business program of the International Naval Show in Kronstadt.
Since 2019, the functions of developing and implementing state policy and legal regulation in the development of the Arctic have been transferred by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation to the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East. For the period from 2019 to 2023, 10 federal laws and more than 50 acts of the Government of the Russian Federation were adopted.
In 2020, key strategic documents were approved - these are the “Fundamentals of the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic” and the “Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and Ensuring National Security until 2035”.
Today, 687 investment projects are being implemented in the Arctic with an investment of more than 1.6 trillion rubles, about 38 thousand new jobs will be created.
Prospects for the development of the Russian Arctic take into account the needs of the economy, the interests of the environment, the social protection of the local population, the country's geopolitical goals and the tasks of protecting Russia's longest border.
