On the eve of the International Arctic Forum, the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexey Chekunkov made a working visit to the Murmansk Region. Accompanied by the region's governor Andrey Chibis, the minister inspected the sites for the events of the International Arctic Forum, which will be held in Murmansk on March 26-27.
In addition, Minister visited the reconstructed regional museum of local history, the base of the nuclear icebreaker fleet of the FSUE “Atomflot” and familiarized himself with the work of the Headquarters of Marine Operations of the FSBI “GlavSevmorput”, met with the crew of the first serial universal nuclear icebreaker “Sibir” of Project 22220. Since its commissioning, the vessel has traveled 159,924 nautical miles, providing escort for 367 vessels.
The Minister, Governor and Director of the “Roscongress” Foundation Alexander Stuglev also visited the memorial to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. They laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and paid tribute to the feat of the Soviet people in the Far North.
