Admissions campaign 2025: applicants choose universities in the Far East

Universities of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) are summing up the first results of the main stage of admission of applicants. This year, the number of applications has increased, the geography of applicants has expanded. The growth of interest in education in the Far East is influenced by the implementation of strategic projects within the framework of the program "Priority 2030. Far East", the systematic work of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC). For the fourth year, the program has been raising the prestige of FEFD universities and strengthening the human resources potential of the macroregion, creating conditions for long-term socio-economic development.

"The results of the 2025 admissions campaign at SakhSU exceeded all expectations and set new records. The geography of applicants covered 63 regions of the country, from which more than 8 thousand applications were received. This is one and a half times more than last year. The average competition reached 10 applications per place, which indicates the high competitiveness of our programs and interest in the region. We are recording an unprecedented, almost fivefold, increase in the number of applicants from the mainland who applied to SakhSU. It is noteworthy that every sixth student enrolled came from other regions of Russia, in addition to the Sakhalin Region. Demand for the entire range of training areas has increased significantly: engineering and technical, natural sciences, languages, and psychological and pedagogical. The successful completion of the campaign with such indicators is evidence of the growing authority of SakhSU and the confidence of applicants in our university," said SakhSU Rector Alexander Samardak.
