Engineering research on permafrost will be carried out by a new resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation in Salekhard

The “Arktika” Architectural Planning Studio (APM “Arktika” LLC) has become a resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) and has begun implementing an investment project to create a modern engineering and geological base with a soil laboratory in the city of Salekhard.

The total investment under the agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) is 60 million rubles. The funds will be used to construct a 1,050-square-meter multifunctional complex and equip it with high-tech equipment. The facility is scheduled to open in 2029.

The workshop will conduct research that is essential for the safe and cost-effective design of foundations in conditions of thawing permafrost, which is relevant for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District due to changing climate conditions.
