A law was signed on expanding the preferential regime of the Russian Arctic to two districts of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the inclusion of two new municipalities in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) - the Berezovsky and Beloyarsky municipal districts of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra. The inclusion of municipalities in the Russian Arctic will create favorable conditions for their development through tools to support business activities in the Arctic zone and additional social programs provided for by the state program “Socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.” “The decision to include the territories of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug into the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation was made jointly with the district authorities, who took into account the interest of business representatives, both large and small, and their willingness to invest in the economy of the region. The extension of the preferential regime of the Russian Arctic will allow new Arctic investors to create in-demand enterprises and additional jobs for northerners,” said Alexey Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
