The first commercial data center in the Murmansk Region will be launched with state support by a resident of the Russian Arctic
“INTELION SEVER” company (owned by “Intelion Data Systems”, an industrial operator for the sale and maintenance of computing equipment) - a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation - will build a computing data center in the Murmansk Region. The investment project will be implemented under an agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
“We were attracted to the creation of a data center beyond the Arctic Circle not only by the opportunity to have tax preferences received by residents of the Russian Arctic, but also by the large number of sites available for construction and, which is important for our business, by the cold climate. It allows you to increase the energy efficiency of data centers, solving the problem of cooling high-performance equipment, and, as a result, reduces energy costs,” explained Timofey Semyonov, CEO of “Intelion Data Systems.”
The project will be implemented in the Kola region. On a land plot of 15 thousand square meters, technological modules with a capacity of 16 MW will be placed. The volume of initial investments in the creation of infrastructure for servicing computing facilities for data processing, under an agreement with the FEDC, will amount to about 147 million rubles.
