Prospects for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Far East and the Arctic were discussed in Vladivostok

Prospects for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Far East and the Arctic, including within the framework of the Free Port of Vladivostok (FPV) regime, were discussed at an extended meeting held by Russian Senator from Primorsky Region Alexander Rolik, Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Vitaly Altabaev and the Government of Primorsky Krai. The meeting was moderated by Director of the FEDC “Primorye” Alexey Dunaev. Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Vitaly Altabaev, speaking about the role of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the gross regional product of the country, noted: “SMEs are a segment of the market economy in which the entrepreneurial self-awareness of citizens develops. Thanks to small and medium-sized businesses, the economy of the Far East is diversifying, becoming sustainable and independent of stock exchange quotations, on which the extractive industries of the regions depend. Preferential regimes have been created in the Far East and the Arctic to support SMEs, and we are planning a thorough fine-tuning of these regimes, including on the basis of proposals from existing businesses." In an open dialogue format, the meeting participants discussed key issues in the implementation of projects and proposals from SME residents to improve preferential regimes.
