The park-museum of the history of BAM is being built in Severobaikalsk as part of the city master plan

In the city of Severobaikalsk in the Republic of Buryatia, a long-term plan for comprehensive socio-economic development is being implemented. Among the key projects of the plan are the construction of the campus of the Buryat Republican Multidisciplinary College of Innovative Technologies (BRMIT); comprehensive improvement of the “Northern Lights of Baikal” park; construction of a new city stadium; creation of a federal-level children's camp "Baikal"; construction of the “History of BAM” park. In general, in the Far Eastern Federal District, master plans for the development of 25 cities provide for the implementation of 875 projects with the support of the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), federal ministries and departments, as well as regional authorities with a total value of more than 4.4 trillion rubles. The master plan of Severobaikalsk is intended to create conditions for servicing growing traffic flows, taking into account new technologies, create new jobs for residents of the BAM and diversify the economy, including through tourism and small and medium-sized businesses, provide incentives for the construction of new housing, update utilities, transport and social infrastructure, create conditions for vocational education so that BAM youth can obtain in-demand professions. In March 2023, the master plan for Severobaikalsk was approved by the President of Russia during a meeting in Ulan-Ude.
