The new resident of KIRF will open a guest complex on Iturup Island in 2028

In 2026, 14 new investors joined the preferential regime on the Kuril Islands. “IRS” LLC became the sixtieth participant in the special preferential regime on the Kuril Islands of the Russian Federation (KIRF). The investor plans to build a tourist accommodation facility on Iturup Island. The company plans to begin providing services in 2028.

"The unique conditions of Russia's best preferential regime for new projects are attracting businesses to the Kuril Islands. This year, 14 new investors have joined the KIRF regime. Entrepreneurs are investing 1.7 billion rubles and creating 300 jobs. A total of 60 notifications have been submitted by participants in the KIRF regime. The projects' investment volume amounts to 17.7 billion rubles, and entrepreneurs are creating 1,454 jobs. KIRF participants have already implemented nine projects," said Maria Grishinkova, Director of the Sakhalin and Kuril Islands Regional Development Cooperation Agency.
