According to Rosstat, interest in the Far East from domestic and international tourists has increased significantly over the past decade. From January to April 2026, the number of foreign citizens staying in Far Eastern hotels increased by 91%—from 38,900 to 74,100.
A further increase in tourist flow from neighboring countries will open up new investment opportunities for macro-regions, which will positively impact the stability and efficiency of the regional economy as a whole, noted Kirill Kamenev. At the same time, in proportion to the growing demand for tourist destinations in the Far East and the Arctic, which attract travelers with the beauty of nature, the authenticity of landscapes, and the opportunity to combine different types of recreation, it is necessary to increase the pace of construction of tourism infrastructure and attract investors, including foreign ones, to joint projects.
It was noted that tourism remains one of the most popular sectors for business development: every tenth residential project implemented with the help of government support measures in the Far East and the Arctic is tourism-related.
