The Ministry of Eastern Development of Russia and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic (FEDC) took part in the VIII Russian-Chinese EXPO and the IV Russian-Chinese Forum on Interregional Cooperation in Harbin. During the events aimed at increasing business interaction between the two countries, the development of trade and economic cooperation was discussed, and the investment potential of the Far East and the Arctic was presented. Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Anatoly Bobrakov delivered a welcoming speech to the conference participants. He said that over 10 years, trade turnover between the Russian Far East and the People's Republic of China has doubled. In the priority development territories and the free port of Vladivostok, 53 projects with a total investment volume of 816 billion rubles are being implemented with the participation of Chinese capital. Transport and border infrastructure is being developed. A significant contribution to the growth of trade turnover was made by two new bridge crossings opened in 2022: Blagoveshchensk-Heihe and Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang. In 2023, 3.8 million tons of cargo were transported along them. Joint work on the development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island is also beginning, and by 2030, cargo turnover through the island will reach 1.3 million tons, passenger traffic will reach 1.4 million people.
